Good morning Elm class
Welcome to your final week of Home Learning and being in Elm class. It has been a privilege teaching you all this year. I have been totally amazed by your commitment to learning, I know it is very different learning at home however you have taken on the challenge with great enthusiasm and shown me the real strength and depth of your character. I only wish we could have completed the whole year in class, I'm so sad that our time was cut short. You have shown all the positive attributes that make a successful KEPS learner, continue with this ethos and you will go far in your school life and beyond! You have been a brilliant class to teach, you have made a great success of year 3 and I wish you all the best for year 4!
A special mention to all the parents, grandparents and other members of your family who have all juggled their time to be your teachers over this period. Thank you so much for supporting the children and me by embracing the new role, routines and technology. All that hard work will be so worthwhile and make a massive difference to the children on returning to school.
Now, one last push Elm class, you're nearly there!

Hello Elm class
I hope you are all keeping safe and well. I have really enjoyed receiving your work on Google classroom, it's so encouraging to see how much effort you are putting in to your learning. You're not only learning online but thinking back on what we have learnt in class and using these skills. You are very nearly ready for Year 4, believe it or not you only have 3 weeks left as year 3s! I am extremely proud of your amazing resilience, independence and maturity throughout this time, you are all superstars!
Keep going Elm class, we're nearly there!

Hi everyone
To make the English this week a little easier, I have screen grabbed the questions (from tomorrow onwards) and made them in to the documents below. Unfortunately there is no other way of printing them separately. The documents are in date order and this should make life simpler for the children rather than clicking the Next/Back button. However, they will still need to go through the Worksheet slides to make sure they don't miss any useful information.
I hope this helps!

Hello Elm class
Here we are again for another week of home schooling! I really am missing you all and it has been so lovely to be able to see your work and have more contact with you through Google classroom. I hope you have all read the comments I have made. I am very impressed by how quickly you have adapted to GC, being able to upload your work as well as chatting to your friends in the chit chat room. I can see you are enjoying having that contact with everyone.
This week I have added PRINT to those documents that should be printed (if you can), hopefully this will be quicker and easier for you. However, the links are still available on the time table if you prefer to do it that way. Additionally, when you need to upload something to Google Classroom, to make it more noticeable I have changed the font colour to red. Then you can look through quickly to see which activities need adding. There is one each day.
Have a lovely week, I think it's going to be a hot one!

Good morning Elm class
Welcome to another week of Home Learning and this one is a special one as we get to grips with Google Classroom. I am really excited about being more able to keep in contact with you all, seeing your work as well as enabling you to all chat to each other. There are different rooms in our Google classroom so you know exactly where to upload your work, try to keep to these rooms as your work will be easier to locate. Once we have all said 'Hi' on the class stream please use the Elm class chit chat room for conversations with each other. Remember that everyone can see what you're writing (including me!). Remember our esafety lessons and stay safe online!
Have a super duper week of Home Learning and I look forward to giving you feedback on your learning.
Keep smiling!
Mrs Lane
A massive Congratulations Elm class, you have now read 700 books on Epic! I can see exactly how much time you have each spent on Epic! and what you have been reading, very impressive!

Hello Elm class
I'm sorry my message didn't upload yesterday so here it is a day late!
I hope you are all well. This week in Maths the focus is 'Telling the time', hopefully whilst you have been at home you have been practising this a lot! Keep that up as the best way to learn time is through lots of practical play.
I can see that quite a few of you have still been logging on to TT Rockstars, Numbots, Epic and AR reader so well done to you! However there has been a big drop in action so please try to log on to at least one of these a day, it's really important to keep up with your reading and those basic Maths skills. It will make it much easier for you when you come back to school.
Enjoy your learning this week and keep up the good work!

Hello Elm class
I hope you had a brilliant half term, we were so lucky with the weather! I bet you have all enjoyed being out in the sunshine.
It seems such a long time ago since I last saw most of you! You are all doing so well with your Home Learning - I'm sure that you are having both good and bad times with it, so well done for your resilience in pushing on and getting it done. It will really help you for when you are all back at school. I think we will all really appreciate our 'normal' when the time comes.
Keep going Elm class!

Hello Elm class
I hope you have all been enjoying your learning so far. I have had lots of great reports from you and your parents about how you have been doing and lots of you are having fun with it - which is my aim!
The Hall of Fame is up for this last week, we have had a drop in activity in some areas so it would be super to see an improvement this week. I know it's different and we don't have the usual school routine but it's vital that we keep our number knowledge up to date on Numbots as well as reading as much as possible! Well done to those of you that have, some of you have been reading extraordinary amounts on Epic! I have added some more books that you might be interested in.
Again, I love to see your work and hear how you are so keep those emails coming through via the office.

Hello Elm class
Well done to all of you for doing so well with your home learning! I have heard from many of you and have really enjoyed seeing the pictures of your amazing work. It's very different working from home, it's not the usual routine but you have all adjusted so well. I can see just how hard you're all working from the different online activities I have asked that you do. I am super proud, keep it up and remember to email with any questions you might have.
Have a good week!

Hello Elm class
Welcome to another week of home learning. Thank you for all your messages this week, I love to see what you have been up to and just how creative you are all being! It was lovely to speak to some of you as well. If you haven't had a phone call from me, you will probably have had one from your sibling's teacher but I will get around to calling all of you!
I have been really impressed with the results of your Star Reading Tests, lots of you have made good progress which shows just how much you are reading at home, well done! There are just five children yet to complete it so please make sure this is done as soon as possible.
You have been very busy completing AR quizzes too, with the majority of them passed with flying colours - great job!
You are all doing so well, remember to keep me updated and complete everything to the best of your ability!

Hello Elm class families
Next week in Science, we will be looking at 'Moving Water', I will be asking you to carry out an experiment to investigate the way in which water is transported within plants. I know there is a lot to think about at the moment and I wouldn't want any of you to make a special journey to the shops so this is an advance warning!
You will need some bright white flowers such as carnations, chrysanthemums or gerberas with stems of equal length and some food colouring (dark colours work best such as blue).
Quantities:
You will need 3 flower stems (of the same type) and two bottles of food colouring.
Please don't worry if you have not got the above available for next Thursday, the experiment can be carried out at a later stage once you have your next grocery delivery.
Many thanks.

Hello Elm class
I hope you are all ready for another week of Home Learning. It has been another lovely, sunny weekend, I hope you have made the most of the good weather! It has been great to hear from so many of you this week, please keep the emails coming!
For parents: I have made some changes to the weekly planner this week, all documents are now available in PDF format as well as Word. This will enable some of you working on different platforms to access the documents more easily. Also, I have included links to the documents on the planner, if any of these don't work, please let me know via the office's email however I have included all the documents on the Home Learning page with the days that they are needed in brackets. I'm trying to make it as 'user friendly' as possible.
Enjoy your week!

Hello Elm class and welcome to week 3 of Home Learning!
I hope you all had a brilliant Easter in the sunshine and I hope you haven't eaten too much chocolate!
Thank you to those of you that have emailed me with updates on how you are and what you have been up to. It's really lovely to hear from you as I am missing you all so much! You can email me via the school office, I would love to see some of your 'Creative Craniums' working this week. Maybe you could upload a picture of your artwork or even a video of your Science dance!
I have changed the weekly planner to A4 size this week as I know the A3 version was causing some problems with printing. I have tried to make the learning links as easy and as fun as possible. If you are finding something particularly difficult or you would like some extra work, please contact me.
I hope you are using your spare time to read, I have noticed that lots of you are completing AR quizzes, which is fantastic! I can also see that you are regularly logging on to TT Rockstars, remember Numbots too, this is a great way to keep your number facts fresh in your mind.
Enjoy your week and don't forget to show me some of your work, I can't wait to see it!
Elm class, you are making me so proud!

I can see that some of you have completed AR quizzes and have been on TT Rockstars. Thanks for the Rockslam challenges! Hello Elm class
I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying the home learning. As I mentioned in my last message we have revised a lot of learning this week to help you to adjust to your new home learning environment. However, next week we will be experiencing some new learning. I can imagine you all cheering as I know you all love a challenge! There are lessons to watch and worksheets to complete (you can either print or complete the questions in your home learning book).
Keep up the good work and get ready to make those brilliant brains work a bit harder this week!
Keep smiling Elm class!

Hello Elm class
I hope you have managed to get outside over the weekend and enjoyed the lovely sunshine. I will post a timetable of activities on the home learning area of our class page every week. This week will be mainly about you revisiting some of the learning we have recently experienced in class. Remember all of those tips I give you regularly in class! Use your Home Learning books (yellow), treat it just as you would your book in class with your neatest, joined handwriting, the correct punctuation and answering any questions in full extended sentences.
Make sure you take regular breaks from your Home Learning, I have added a link to Joe Wicks' live PE lessons but other than that, please go outside and play or be creative. Some activities will require you to go online however I have tried to limit this as much as possible.
I will post the answers to the Grammar questions the day after the task so that you can mark these and correct any errors.
Your parents and you (now you know how to send an email from our ICT lesson) can contact me via the office email should you have any questions or would just like to say 'Hi'. I will miss your weekend news on Mondays and would love to hear all about what you have been up to!
Most of all, take care of yourself, keep smiling and be happy! Make the most of this time with your family.
Happy Home Learning Elm class!
Mrs Lane
